Adewale Timothy Oreofe

Managing Partner

Our Managing Partner is a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife where he bagged his Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) with a second class upper degree in 2008 and was called to the Nigerian bar in 2009 with a second class upper division from the Nigerian Law School. He also holds a professional course certificate on public prosecution and defense from the Lagos Business School/Pan-Atlantic University.

Timothy, before founding the law firm has previously worked in various legal capacity including: legal officer, Human Rights Volunteer Corps (HRVC), Enugu State Ministry of Justice, Bola Ige SAN & Co, serving as a Magistrate with the Ondo State Judiciary, Oladosu Ogunniyi& Co. He has also served as the deputy executive director of Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Projects (SERAP).

He worked for so many years with the law firm of Oladosu Ogunniyi and Co, one of Nigeria’s leading labour and employment law firm as Head of Litigations. Timothy diligently handled many cases for the firm appearing in all superior courts of records in Nigeria including handling the locus classicus case of Union Bank of Nigeria V. Union Bank of Nigeria Pensioners on the issue of “thirteenth month” salary payment. He was also the lead counsel in the celebrated Supreme Court case of Ogunpehin v. Nucleus Ventures wherein he moved the Supreme Court to jettison its previous decisions on NBA stamp and seal.

Timothy has represented so many companies and organizations as a legal counsel including: Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), NIMASA, Union Bank of Nigeria, First Bank of Nigeria, MRS Oil Plc, Greenville Oil and Gas and numerous other organizations and companies. Timothy has led SERAP’s team of lawyers in human rights regional courts of ECOWAS, and the African Commission. He was the lead counsel for SERAP in numerous public interest cases won for the organization.

Timothy was a member of Nigeria’s asset recovery delegation to Washington DC, USA in 2017 for the legal process leading to the repatriation of “Abacha loot 2”. He also previously served as a member of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC Coalition) Coordination’s Committee and representative of Sub-Saharan Africa Seat 1, (2016-2018), and a Member of the Steering Committee, Open Government Partnership-(OGP) Nigeria (2016-Dec 2018). Between March to May, 2020, He led the work on the draft human right due diligence legislation for business and human rights in Nigeria.
